Florence

Hotel: We stayed at Hotel Home Florence. The hotel is centrally located and we were walking distance from every main attraction. Breakfast was included and was probably my favorite breakfast during our trip.

Things to do: Piazzale Michelangelo (This was one of my favorite things we did while we were in Florence. It’s a large square that sits on a hill overlooking Florence and the Arno river. There is a restaurant at the top and we had a cheese tray… which was the best cheese I’ve ever had and I’m really picky and of course cocktails 🙂 ). Boboli Gardens (It’s not like the gardens at Versailles. It’s not as kept up and perfectly cut but to me it made it beautiful in a different way… there’s nothing like an old Italian mansion and beautiful overgrown gardens. There is a reason why Kim and Kayne got married there). Statue of David (All I have to say is WOW!!! The statue is absolutely breathtaking. It is crazy to believe that a sculpture made of marble could have so much detail. This is definitely something you have to see and I recommend going right when it opens because it gets very crowded and lines can get a couple of hours long). Piazza del Duomo (A gorgeous cathedral that is in the center of Florence. We didn’t get to go inside but I heard it’s really beautiful and if you have time climb to the top of the bell tower). Shop the leather market (Florence is known for their leather and you can find it all over town). Grab a drink, sit on the Arno river and enjoy the sunset.

Food: Mercato Centrale (This is a 2 story market, the first story is like a farmers market with fresh produce, meats, wine, oils…. everything you could think of!! It’s basically like an authentic Eatly and the 2nd story is like a food court but with good food and not fast food crap. We tasted olive oil and balsamic and later that day we came back to eat at the food court. I had the best bruschetta and we both had amazing dumplings.. I know not Italian but they were delicious). Zaza’s (Hands down the best gnocchi I’ve ever had. We both loved this restaurant, it was probably one of our favorites. We loved everything about it.. the staff, ambiance and the food). Oibo (This restaurant has an amazing aperitivo which is an Italian pre meal and drink before dinner. For 10 euros you get a cocktail and an all you can eat buffet style of appetizers… which was plenty of food and delicious).

To watch my Florence VLOG go to my Venice post
