Home Decor on a Budget

09/11/2018

Looking to decorate your house/apartment on a budget or in my case a temporary apartment, but still want it to look good and feel homey? We were able to decorate Chases apartment for under $1000!!!

It was super hard for me not to get carried away and buy more things for his place but he will only be living there for a year so I had to remind myself to stay focused.
Chase was lucky because his roommate had a couch, dining room table, and entertainment center and his parents let them use their chair. All of these can be very expensive so if you don’t want to buy new furniture I would ask people who you know if they’re giving anything away or look on Craigslist or go to Goodwill. Ikea is also an option. Chase got his coffee table and dresser from Ikea both under $200.

Now for my favorite part.. Decorating and putting it all together! Everything in his apartment is from Target, Home Goods, World Market, and Wayfair. I could spend hours in Home Goods. You really need to take the time and look through everything. I like to make a list of everything I need on my phone to keep me on track because I can get carried away very easily.

For artwork Chase has a lot of movie posters so I framed one of them. We actually had it hanging in our living room in our apartment in LA. The Newspaper article that is hanging in the bathroom is from an antique store in Paris and the pictures in his bedroom, I took when we visited Positano. We love to find old maps and vintage posters while we are traveling because it gives it more character than some random picture from Home Goods or Target and it’s usually cheaper. I buy my frames from Michael’s and use coupons, you can download their app and they have weekly 40% off coupons for your entire purchase which is great because each frame is usually $50-80.

I think the best advice I can give is to figure out what theme/design you want to go with beforehand and then take it at your own pace.
