COVID: Consume Only Vintage Italian Drinks

03/22/2020

Some of us are using this time at home to learn a new hobby, read a book, clean the house, or, if you’re like me, you’re doing all of the above…while drinking. At this point I feel like whatever you need to do to get through the day, just do it! So if that’s having a cocktail at noon, then go for it!

Here is a list of Italian inspired drinks to try. Aperol Spritzes are my favorite and are simple to make.

Ingredients: 1 1/4 oz Aperol, 2 oz Prosecco, splash of soda water.
Preparation: Fill a wine glass with ice, pour in Aperol, Prosecco and top with soda water. Garnish with a slice of blood orange (you can use a regular orange or grapefruit if you prefer). I like to add a couple slices to the drink.

Ingredients: Ice cream (coffee, chocolate or vanilla), shot of espresso
Preparation: Place 2 small scoops of ice cream in a cup, then pour in a shot of espresso or 3 tablespoons of strong brewed coffee. Top with shaved dark chocolate and chopped hazelnuts or walnuts

Ingredients: 1 oz Vermouth rosso, 1 oz Bitter Campari, 1 oz Dry Gin.
Preparation: Served on the rocks, you need to use a tumbler or an old-fashioned glass, stir the ingredients directly in the glass and garnish with a half slice of orange and lemon peel. (If you don’t have Campari, Aperol works really well too).

Feeling lazy or don’t have the ingredients to make these drinks? Wine and beer are always great options.
Barolo: Renato, Brezza, Jadot Beaujolais Villages
Chianti: Nozzole, Ruffino

Peroni

Hope you enjoy! Cheers 🙂
