Chase, Cassidy (Chase’s sister), and I flew from Barcelona-El Prat Airport to Palma de Mallorca airport–The fight was about 45 minutes. Once we arrived at the airport, we had a car waiting for us that I booked through SunTransfers. There are multiple areas to stay while visiting Mallorca. We stayed in Son Caliu, which is about 25-30 minutes from the airport.

We stayed at Hotel Son Caliu Spa Oasis. The location of the resort is great. It’s right along the sea and guests have access to a private beach. The room itself was fine, nothing too impressive. Breakfast is included and they offer a huge buffet style breakfast. However, their other food was not that great. I recommend getting lunch and dinners elsewhere. There are a couple cafes along the beach next to the resort that were fine, but there are plenty of great restaurants in the area.

We stayed at the resort most of the time but if we left we took taxis that we were able to call from the front desk. The town that we stayed in is pretty small and walkable. Although we didn’t walk around that much, we did walk to a local market a couple times to grab snacks, alcohol, etc.

Since we visited at the end of our trip, we were pretty tired and just wanted to relax– lay by the pool, swim in the sea and enjoy our time. There are so many different activities and places to explore on the island that if you want to be more productive or are afraid that you’ll get bored after a couple days, trust me you won’t!

Aside from relaxing we rented a boat and I highly recommend it! I decided to rent our own instead of going on a bigger tour with more guests because you get to choose what you want to do. You also don’t have to deal with random people with you when you want to relax, drink and listen to your own music.

I went through Seashore Boats Mallorca and had a great experience. The only thing I have to complain about is the speed of the boat (due to not having a boating license), but other than that everything was great. Very easy tutorial on how to drive/work the boat, an ice box with ice and water is included. I recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks on board, and to book for 6-8 hours. We only had 4 hours and wish we had more, especially since the boat is slow and takes longer to get around.

Since we ate mainly at the resort I don’t have any recommendations. I can share a few restaurants that I saved but didn’t have the chance to visit.

  • Restaurants: Sumailla, Illeta restaurant, The Olive Tree Mallorca, Max garden restaurant, Barbuda beach bar grill, Muell3 (also do take away lunches for boat), Cap falco beach restaurant, Balneario Illetas restaurant
  • Bar: Origin Palmanova Roof Terrace
  • If you’re staying for awhile rent a car
  • Summer is the busiest and warmest time to visit. Spring and Fall are great for exploring other areas on the island and hiking
  • During the summer, the sun sets around 930 PM
  • Most businesses give you an option to pay in Euros or USD when paying by card.
