I love a fancy dinner, cocktails, and the ambiance of a nice restaurant, but doing that all the time can get very pricey. I think it’s great to have special date nights that you splurge on. However, it’s important to remember you don’t have to break the bank just to go on a date. I also think it’s fun to try out new things, especially if you’ve been with your significant other for awhile. And if you just started dating I think it’s a great way to experience a variety of things together that way you can get to know each other better.
Here are 5 cheap date ideas:
1. Cook a meal together, make drinks, and play a board game
Find a new recipe and make a cocktail that will go with the dish. For board games I recommend, Hunt A Killer: Murder Mystery Games. It’s an immersive mystery game, great to solve as a team. They offer subscriptions for $30/month, so you can get a new game delivered monthly, and makes for a perfect date night!
2. Grab your favorite take-out food and go to the beach, park, or any local places near you that has a gorgeous view
This can be as cheap as getting taco bell (no hate lol). To make it fun, you can grab food from a bunch of your favorite places and have tapas style. I recommend doing this for dinner and getting to your spot before sunset.
3. Go on a hike and watch the sunrise
You definitely don’t have to wake up super early to watch the sunrise, you can just go on a hike. But let me tell you, it’s worth it!! Sunrise hikes are gorgeous. And if you want to be a little extra, you can bring a light breakfast and coffee (or tea) in a thermos to enjoy while you watch the sunrise.
4. Go to Breakfast
It’s hard not to be able to go out and eat at a restaurant, so go for breakfast. Breakfast is usually cheaper than any other meal – and I’m not taking about brunch, those mimosas add up $$$%. If possible I would choose a local cafe that’s walking distance from where you live.
5. Go to a museum
Look to see if there are any new museum openings or temporary exhibits that you can go to. If you’re into music you can also find local venues and ticket prices are pretty cheap. It’s a great way to discover and support artists.
